German budget hotel, Hüttenpalast, has taken glamping one step further and turned caravanning into a luxurious hotel experience.
The hotel in Berlin has essentially converted an old 600 square-metre vacuum factory into an indoor camping site filled with refurbished vintage caravans, retro-themed wooden cabins and traditional loft-style hotel rooms.
With an unassuming front entrance located in busy Berlin, customers enter through reception into a tranquil garden where they can relax and enjoy a breakfast buffet for just AU$16 per person. You can also rent bikes from reception to travel through Berlin between spring and autumn.
The hotel is then split into three halls, each as eclectic as the next. Hall one boasts three caravans and three wooden cabins. The wood used for one of the cabins was actually taken from the original production rooms of the factory that stood nearly one hundred years ago.
Hall two is littered with fantastic vintage caravans that would impress even the biggest anti-camper. The terrifically designed area has five caravans and one tree-house themed cabin. While the interiors of each room are definitely incredible, the funky exterior design gives them a run for their money.
The final area is dedicated to the traditional hotel rooms for those who prefer their own space. Unlike the other two halls, these rooms have their own en-suites, however that’s as close to civilisation as they get. As the hotel owners are campers at heart, they pride themselves on no televisions, no minibars and no fitted carpets.
While the distinctive caravans and cabins are unlike any other camping grounds in the world, the hotel still has shared bathrooms and showers to steer closer to its camping roots. However, sheets, towels and most amenities are all supplied for you.
